Photographs of Sydney by Brodie
BRODIE. Ten original albumen prints of Sydney by
Alexander Brodie. C 1872. The photographs are in very
good condition and mounted on board. The images
measure 28 x 24cm. The photographs were taken from
the spire of St James church and cover all four points
of the compass, and reach as far as Balmain, Redfern,
Paddington, Kings Cross, Garden Island, Fort Denison
and the North Shore. They include superb views of a
barely treed Hyde Park, the complete length of the Rum
Hospital, and St. Mary’s Cathedral under construction.
